DESCRIPTION:<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>PUBLIC NOTICE&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) #23-179, Multifamily Uses and Infill Development in the Residential Office (RO) Zone</p><p>Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of Charles County, Maryland will conduct a Public Hearing on November 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the proposed Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) #23-179, Multifamily Uses and Infill Development in the RO Zone. The discussion will take place in the Government Building Conference Room (Blue Room) and via video teleconference. The public is welcome to attend and encouraged to participate in the hearing.</p><p>ZTA #23-179 would amend the Charles County Zoning Ordinance to add the following multifamily uses as permitted uses in the Residential Office (RO) Zone: Use #3.03.100, Multifamily Residential: Garden Apartment and #3.03.200, Multifamily Residential: Mid-Rise. The amendments are meant to facilitate development of infill parcels and to provide affordable housing. On November 1, 2024, the zoning amendments will be accessible at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.charlescountymd.gov/Home/Components/News/News/5462/www.CharlesCountyMD.gov/Meetings" target="_blank"><strong>www.CharlesCountyMD.gov/Meetings</strong></a>.</p><p>Limited in-person seating will be available; however, the hearing can be viewed online at:&nbsp;<a href="https://charlescountymd.info/CCGtv" target="_blank"><strong>https://charlescountymd.info/CCGtv</strong></a>, or by calling 301-645-0500. The public can also watch via CCGTV on cable access channels, Comcast: 95 and Verizon FIOS: 10.</p><p>Public testimony can be provided virtually or in person. Three (3) minutes will be allocated to each speaker. The County reserves the right to move onto the next caller if a registered speaker is not available when called.
